Privacy

Last updated October 8, 2026. This covers the website, the waitlist, the app on the web and on phones.

What we collect

  • Your email address, if you join the waitlist.
  • Your answers to two optional questions: which gig apps you use and which mileage tracker you use.
  • A short tag from the link you used to find us (like "?ref=reddit"), if there was one.
  • Page visit counts from Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies and does not follow you to other sites.

If you create an account

  • Your email address, to send sign-in codes.
  • What you enter: payouts and tips, hours worked, costs, miles, tax payments, 1099 amounts, money you set aside, and your answers to the setup questions.
  • When you import a file, it is read on your own device. We receive only the dates and amounts you match, plus the file's name (encrypted) so you can find and undo the import. We never receive or keep the file itself.
  • One cookie that keeps you signed in. We use no cookies for ads or tracking.

Your email and every number and note you enter are encrypted in our database. You can download all of it, or delete your account and everything in it, at any time in Settings.

In the phone app

  • Reminders you turn on in the app are set up on your phone. Nothing about them is sent to us.
  • Face ID or your fingerprint is checked by your phone. We never receive it.
  • A file you open with the app is read on your phone and then deleted from it. Only the values you match reach us, as above.
  • The app has no ads and no tracking or analytics.

What we never collect

Your Social Security number, your bank login or your bank account numbers.

Tax Pit Stop is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

How we use it

  • To confirm your email and tell you when Tax Pit Stop opens.
  • To remind you before IRS due dates (on unless you turn it off) and, if you ask, on Mondays to do your weekly check-in. Reminders never include your amounts. Each one has a link to stop it, and Settings has both switches.
  • To work out your set-aside number and show your records back to you.
  • To count how many people are interested and which apps and trackers to support first.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for ads ("sell" and "share" as state privacy laws like California's use those words).

Who helps us run the site

  • Cloudflare hosts the site and the database, and counts page visits.
  • Resend sends our emails.
  • Apple or Google, if you pay through their app store. They handle that payment under their own privacy policies.
  • Stripe takes payment if you buy Pit Crew on our website, including the card you add for the free trial. Your card goes straight to Stripe; we never see or store it. We keep only Stripe's ids for your plan, which plan it is, and when it renews. Deleting your account ends your plan and removes you from Stripe's customer list (Stripe keeps its own payment records, as the law requires).

How we protect it

Your email is encrypted in our database with a key that is kept apart from the database. Cloudflare also encrypts everything it stores.

How long we keep it

  • If you don't confirm your email, we delete it after 30 days.
  • If you confirm, we keep it until you leave the list or we close the waitlist.
  • Your account and records stay until you delete them.
  • Deleted data can stay in our backups for up to 30 more days, then it is gone.

Your choices

  • Download everything we have about you, or delete it all, any time in Settings.
  • Every waitlist email has a link that deletes your email from the list right away.
  • Reminder emails each have a one-tap link to stop them.
  • Or write to hello@taxpitstop.com and we'll do it for you.
